It’s National Influenza Vaccination Week!
Tis the season for family gatherings, but also tis the season for the flu. National Influenza Vaccination Week is December 5-9, 2022 and is to help serve as a reminder that there’s still time to get the flu vaccine and fight flu.
People 65 years and older are at higher risk of developing serious flu complications compared with young, healthy adults. This increased risk is due in part to changes in immune defenses with increasing age. While flu seasons vary in severity, during most seasons, people 65 years and older bear the greatest burden of severe flu disease.
Currently, flu activity is elevated across the country, so this week remember that there is still time to benefit from the first and most important action in preventing flu illness and potentially serious flu complications. Protect yourself and the ones you love from flu illness by getting vaccinated today.
